This is a bit more of a somber place, but a must see if you’re into war photography. According to their website their purpose is to “educate the public in the field of war photography, to expose the myth of war and the intoxication of war, to let people see war as it is, raw, venal, frightening, by focusing on how war inflicts injustices on innocents and combatants alike.” 1 It is a photography museum dedicated to humanity with the aim of showing how all wars, not just those in the former Yugoslavia, destroy the lives and families of countless people who often merely appear just as statistics and faceless. In my opinion it’s a place that everyone should see to remind them that though Dubrovnik and Croatia are happening places now, it wasn’t always like this and that many people in many parts of the former Yugoslavia suffered, with many still feeling the aftermath of the bloody conflict.
At the time of writing there was a visiting exhibition depicting the crisis in Ukraine. Visit the website for more information about the exhibits.
