The Earth as Seen From the Rings of Saturn

This is stunning and puts things into perspective. It’s a photo of our beloved blue planet, Earth, as seen by the NASA Cassini spacecraft just inside the rings of Saturn.

As NASA’s site says, the “Cassini spacecraft captured this view of planet Earth as a point of light between the icy rings of Saturn on April 12, 2017.” This is all at a distance of 870 million miles (or 1.4km away. 1

That small dot is us. All of us, our history, our socieities, everything.

Makes one wonder what what all of our wars and squabbles really accomplishes in the grand scheme of things.
